Fouth months old. . . a month late

A month behind, as Harper is actually five months old now, but these were the happenings during her fourth month of life. :)

Our baby girl is growing SO fast. She had her four month check-up on 05/29 (two weeks late) and she weighed fifteen pounds and six ounces. She is twenty six inches long and is STILL off the charts for her length! She's so big she fits into sizes six months, 6-9 months, and 6-12 months. I'm going to go broke buying her new clothes!
We checked out Once Upon A Child around the corner from our house. . . and we ended up with TWELVE outfits for $37, some of them being brand new with tags still on! I'm obsessed with checking out consignment stores. Why have I never done that before now?!

We finally finished her room a little over a month ago! The theme is giraffes, as you will very plainly see. :)

I'm looking into switching her from her infant carrier to a big girl car seat. We have a Maxi Cosi Mico car seat now and I'd like to trade it for a Maxi Cosi Pria 70. She's just too long and heavy for her infant carrier now. She can sit in her stroller just fine, plus I still have the Baby Bjorn which she seems to love. We'll see! But in the meantime here's a photo of the car seat I'd like to upgrade her to. The color is called Sweet Cerise.

After three months of formula shopping, since outgrowing Enfamil Newborn blend, I have finally settled on my favorite one for her - Earth's Best organic. I feel really good about giving it to her. It hasn't caused any digestive problems at all and she seems to like it. It smells sweet and waaaaaay less chemically than any of the other formulas we've tried. Some places sell it for two to five dollars more, but Publix, Target, and Ingles have it for about $25 per can, which is comparable to Enfamil. (I will still use the pre-made Enfamil Gentlease when we travel, though).
We were given the green light to let her try baby food! I have everything but the actual food processor for making our own baby food. :) I bought Earth's Best whole grain oatmeal with bananas. She LOVES it. Once she's used to that we can move on to stage one foods - I bought jars of apples, prunes, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, and squash. (Again, Earth's Best.) Hopefully once I see the consistency and the things she likes I will become a pro at making our own!

We introduced rice formula to her in her bottle at night a t around four months. I honestly didn't really notice a difference in her sleeping patterns, though she has had the occasional ten to twelve hour stretch. Awesome!

Harper has discovered her feet! She loves to hold onto them and suck on her toes. It really is the cutest thing. AND she's about to be able to sit up on her own! I decided to forego the Bumbo seat as I just don't think its very beneficial. I've heard form some PTs and OTs that it can cause development problems since you are essentially forcing your baby into a sitting position that isn't natural for them.

Unfortunately she had her first ever diaper rash. And even more unfortunately it was because of the Luvs diapers. They were so much more affordable than Huggies and Pamper, but oh well!

Harper and I took a vacation to Savannah to visit my BFF Alexa. We had a FANTASTIC time down there and hope to be back soon! Savannah is one of my most favorite cities to visit.

On Mother's Day my sweet Harper and Taylor treated me to Mexican and margaritas and The Hobbit. It. Was. PERFECT.
For my birthday and Mother's Day my dad and mom went in together and bought a swing to adorn my (future) garden. My dad got my mom the exact same one for Mother's Day one year so it was a very special gift to receive.

On Memorial Day we got to introduce her to the pool and she LOVED IT! We bought her an adorable red, white, and blue baby bikini for $1.50 at the consignment store and a pink baby raft with a canopy. Look how adorable she is!!!

We are so excited to announce that Harper's cousin, Sloan Elizabeth Roberts, was born on May 30, 2013! She is SO beautiful!

And lastly, I will leave you with just a few more photos. I'll post many more in her five month update!
